Apple released their latest software update yesterday, and whilst it’s not it’s not as vast as the iOS 14 update, it still has lots of interesting features. From upgraded maps to mail privacy protection, it’s definitely worth updating for those with an iPhone 6s or later…
11 New Features Included In iOS 15
01. Mail Privacy Protection
As part of their privacy updates, iOS 15 will prevent senders from knowing whether an email has been opened, and also hides IP addresses so senders can’t learn a user’s location.
02. Live TextÂ
Tap on highlighted text in your photos or on online images to make a call, search something online, send an email, translate it or copy it to paste elsewhere.Â
03. Voice Isolation Mode
This new microphone mode uses machine learning to eliminate background noise and prioritize the user’s voice, making for a better caller experience.Â
04. Redesigned Safari Layout
To make it easier to browse, the tabs bar has been moved to the bottom of the screen in iOS 15, meaning users can browse and switch between tabs with one hand.Â
05. Focus Modes
Brand new to iOS 15, Focus allows users to filter their notifications depending on what they’re doing. Example profiles include work, home and personal, meaning you only receive work related notifications during work hours and vice versa.Â
06. FaceTime LinksÂ
Apple users can now hold FaceTime calls with those with Android & Windows devices thanks to this feature. Simply distribute the link and the recipient(s) can join the call from their web browser.Â
07. Shared With YouÂ
A new section that displays the photos, articles, music, and other content shared by friends and family in Messages. It also shows who sent the content (with its associated message) and allows you to restart the conversation.
08. Redesigned Weather
Its all-new design has full-screen maps as well as graphical displays of weather data.
09. Spatial AudioÂ
With iOS 15, voices in a Group FaceTime call sound like they’re coming from the direction in which the person is positioned on the screen, making it easier to work out who is speaking.
10. Upgraded Maps
Not only has the design been upgraded, but Navigation now features a new three-dimensional driving view with road details to make getting around even easier.
11. Health Sharing Tab
A self-explanatory feature, the Health Sharing Tab allows users to easily share their health data with family, caregivers, or a care team if they want or need to.Â
Whilst it’s not a huge update like previous iterations, iOS 15 has its fair share of new and innovative features. To get the update, head to your iPhone’s settings, click general and then navigate to software update. Here you’ll be able to see if the update is available to download and also install it. You can also install the update via a Mac or iTunes on a Windows computer.
